What is

Panchakarma Treatment

Panchakarma is a traditional Ayurvedic detoxification and rejuvenation therapy involving five main procedures: Vamana (therapeutic vomiting), Virechana (purgation), Basti (medicated enema), Nasya (nasal administration), and Raktamokshana (bloodletting). These treatments aim to cleanse the body of toxins, balance the doshas (energies), and promote overall well-being.

Vaman

At Kanchan Aayu ayurvedic clinic we offer the most genuine and effective panchakarma therapies including vamana. Vamana is a medicated emesis therapy which removes Kapha toxins collected in the body and the respiratory tract. This is given to people with high Kapha imbalance.

Virechan

Virechana is medicated purgation therapy which removes Pitta toxins from the body that are accumulated in the intestines, liver and gallbladder. It completely cleanses the gastro-intestinal tract. It is a safe procedure without any side effects.
Basti (Enema) is considered as the mother of all Panchakarma treatments. It can be used for almost all ailments acute or chronic, simple or complicated. Basti in Ayurvedic terms is not just an enema given to cleanse the bowel; it is highly effective route of administration of medication. Through the Basti we can administer large doses of medicines up to 960 ml. Our large intestine readily absorbs the medicines and at timesworks faster than the oral medicines.

Nasya

Nasya involves administration of medicines through the nose. Nasya may be composed of medicated oil, fresh juice of herbs, and decoction of herbs or fine powders of herbomineral medicines. The dose and frequency of usage is decided on case to case basis
It can be given up to 30 days depending on the disease.
Depending on the constituents, Nasya treatment works by either cleansing accumulated Kapha toxins from the head and neck region, palliating the local doshas, or nourishing the internal parts of the head. It can be used for wide range of diseases like:

Raktamokshan

Raktamokshana means ‘letting the blood out’. Raktamokshana is an effective blood purification therapy, in which carefully controlled removal of small quantities of blood is conducted to neutralize accumulated Pitta toxins of many blood borne diseases. This is because Raktamokshana decreases the quantum of enhanced Pitta dosha and thus the diseases caused by Pitta are also relieved.
There are several ways to letting the blood, but practically removal by syringes and by application of leeches is used at Kanchan aayu clinic as these are the most effective and safe methods.

Abhangya

Abhyanga means application and massage of medicated oil all over the body in a specific manner. This is done only by trained masseurs. Different medicated oils are used according to the season, and the constitution of patient. The abhyang is generally followed by swedan i.e. steam bath. It is recommended in Ayurveda as a daily practice of healthy life. Abhyanga improves skin texture and complexion, relaxes the muscles, and reduces fatigue.

Shirodhara

It’s a process of a slow drip of warm medicated oil or decoction on the forehead followed by a gentle and relaxing head massage. It is done for 20 minutes initially and can be increased up to 45 minutes daily. The course duration ranges from 3 days to 21 days

Kati/Manya/Janu Basti

In this process medicated hot oil is held on the affected part (Spine/Knee/Neck) for a particular time with the help of a special apparatus sealed by dough, followed by a gentle oil massage and ayurvedic hot fomentation. This immediately reduces the vitiated vata from affected joint region. It also hydrates and provides nutrition to the degenerated disc. It relaxes the muscles and reduces stiffness significantly increasing the flexibility. Different types of oils are used according to the demand of the case.

Pinda Sweda

It’s a traditional and very effective method of external oleation and fomentation for deep rooted and chronic diseases of joints, muscles and ligaments.

Shastika Shali Means rice which is grown in 60 days. This rice with special medicinal values is used as main ingredient in the procedure and so the name Shastika Shali Pinda means a bolus. Sweda means Fomentation or sudation.

A bolus which is prepared with the medicated rice along with the other herbal medicines used for sudation is called Navara Kizhi or Shastika Shali Pinda Sweda.
